Síle discovered her passion for Latin dance events in 2010 while
attending her first salsa social in Dublin's Temple Bar. She
walked in as a nervous participant and walked out knowing she'd
found something genuinely special. What started as a personal
hobby became an obsession — the good kind. Over the next few
years, she attended every dance event she could find across
Ireland, from intimate Dublin venues to sprawling weekend
festivals.
In 2012, she earned her degree in Event Management from Dublin
City University. That qualification, combined with her
grassroots knowledge of Ireland's dance community, opened doors.
Event organisers started asking her advice. Dancers started
asking where to find good events. She realised the real problem:
Ireland's dance scene was vibrant but scattered. Information was
fragmented across Facebook groups, word-of-mouth, and outdated
websites. No one had built a proper resource.
So she did. Over the past 14 years, Síle's developed deep
relationships with dance organisers throughout Ireland. She's
personally vetting venues for accessibility. She's interviewing
event coordinators about their communities. She's maintaining
seasonal calendars that account for Ireland's unpredictable
weather and regional differences. She's attended over 200 dance
events — not just as a documentarian, but as an active member of
the community.
Her work at gripwow Limited focuses specifically on
connecting people aged 45+ with welcoming, authentic dance
communities. Why 45+? Because she recognised something
important: dance is profoundly social and physically beneficial
for older adults, yet the event information available to them is
either non-existent or terrible. She's fixing that. Her
meticulous approach — combining Event Management credentials
with personal experience — has positioned her as the trusted
voice for finding genuine connection and movement across
